This course provides a format for students to learn about other cultures without traveling. This is part of the Global Academic Initiatives directed by East Carolina University (ECU), USA. This program has received the 2016 NAFSA Senator Paul Simon Spotlight Award, 2014 QS Reimagine Education Award, and 2008 IIE Andrew Heiskell Award in USA. This program has received the Senator Paul Simon Spotlight Award in USA. In this semester, because of time scheduling by ECU, we will connect with two countries, through the arrangement of ECU – (1) Universidad Latina de America, Morelia, Mexico (UNLA) and (2) Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) through live video and chat technology. Discussion topics ranging from college life, family structure, the meaning of life, health care, food and nutrition, to stereotypes and prejudices. A third institution will connect with us only once because of time issue: la Universidad Escuela de Administracion de Negocios in Lima, Peru (ESAN University). Nevertheless, we can work collaboratively with them asynchronously throughout the semester. We are in the process of finding a fourth university at the moment (if possible).
We will also attend a virtual international conference online during April 5-9, 2021:
6th Annual Global Issues Virtual Conference (GIC-6):
